Demon Slayer: Mugen Train rails competition

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train” was released in the United States on April 23rd, 2021. Although originally released in Japan on October 16th, 2020, it needed extra time to be converted to dub in English. The movie is rated R, has a run time of two hours, and is available to watch in most theaters across America. 

Demon Slayer has an extremely high score rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Considering that the average movie rating on Rotten Tomatoes is around 59.3%, it is safe to say that Demon Slayer is “slaying” the competition.

The story revolves around the Mugen Train arc, which can be found in chapters 54-69 of the Demon Slayer manga. The movie is also canon to the overall Demon Slayer story. 

I thought the movie was wonderful. The writers and directors portrayed the relevance of this section of the story very well.

Tiffany Sissom, a Demon Slayer fan, describes the movie as “action filled with a lot of heart-wrenching scenes.”

Tiffany Sissom said, “I could understand the deeper connections between characters and their past. You also see how their emotions are parallel to their goals.”

The opening weekend raked in $21.14 million. Overall, Demon Slayer has grossed over $477 million and is the first non-American film and anime film to reach the yearly box office. In addition, it became the highest-grossing film of 2020 and the first Japanese anime film to reach the milestone of over $400 million US dollars.

Other notable recognitions this film has received include accolades such as the highest-grossing film of all time in Japan, the highest-grossing R-rated animated film of all time, the highest-grossing anime film, and the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time.

Funimation has announced that the second season of Demon Slayer would be released later in 2021. Naturally, fans are enthusiastic about this news.

Overall, Funimation’s direction when adapting the Demon Slayer manga into an animated series has brought them nothing but success. They are continuously setting new records in Japan and various places throughout the world.

The movie was incredible and had a well-designed plot. The musical scores were captivating, and the movie had stunning art scenes. The fight scenes were intense and enthralling for the audience.

I would give the movie a 9.5/10. It was magnificent, and I would definitely see it again. Fellow Demon Slayer fans should remember to bring tissues to this flick!
